Description

A Suchomimus dinosaur tooth from the Elrhaz Formation of Niger. This is a nice tooth, featuring clear fluting on the enamel and no repairs. Comes labelled and stored in an acrylic case with padding. 

Named and described in 1998, Suchomimus was a spinosaurid dinosaur which lived during the Early Cretaceous period in what is now modern day Niger. It was a large theropod, with a long, narrow skull and could reach lengths of up to 9.5-11 meters.

Like other spinosaurids, it lived in a fluvial environment and fed mostly upon fish. The vast floodplains it inhabited were also home to many other dinosaurs, as well as pterosaurs and crocodylomorphs (such as the giant crocodile Sarcosuchus).
